The collection consists of papers of Benjamin B. Blackburn from 1969 to 1974. Richard B. Russell Jr. served in public office for fifty years as a state legislator (1920-1931), governor of Georgia (1931-1932), and U.S. Senator (1933-1971). Russell's papers document the entirety of his career, with the vast majority of the materials focusing on his terms in the U.S. Senate.
